Sheila Kennedy, an architect, travelled to a remote area of mexico and noticed how electrical power was non existent. She noticed that people who had no electricity were not able to work or study when the sun went down. That's when she came up with a brilliant resolution. She decided to design a bag that was both a light and a power source. The bag has a 13" by 4.75" flexible solar panel, rechargeable batteries, an HBLED light, and a USB port. The bag is meant to transform lives for people that live in energy deprived areas. In May, Kennedy collaborated with Elle and top designers to create 8 Portable Light Project Bags. Designers that Kennedy worked on Portable light project bags with were Tommy Hilfiger, Diane Von Furstenberg, Rogan, Lutz & Patmos, Vena Cava, and Loeffler Randall, which is featured below.
