Dusen Dusen

Dusen Dusen is a fun dress collection created by 23 year old Ellen Van Dusen. Dusen was inspired by vivid hues because of the brain's reaction to imagery. Dusen uses bright colors because "our brain associates contrasting colors with pleasure, we are drawn to them." The collection consists of fun, retina-popping tiger patterns, aztec moticfs, sun-bright yellows, and navajo prints. Much of Dusen's work can find inspiration from the abstract Color Field painting movement of the '40s and '50s, as well as work from the contemporary Brazilian multimedia artist Assume Vivid Astro Focus. Additionally, Dusen sews every piece in her collection herself, even though her items are selling out of stores. Van Dusen plans to debut her collection in Spring 2010 with a less vivid collection. The color palette will include black, white and turquoise.
